BookPlace Ltd was formed in August 2003 and had previously traded as Hammicks Bookshops Online. When Hammicks Bookshops Ltd sold off all of their general and legal bookshops, Ian Ramsden-Morris, the former E-Commerce Manager of Hammicks Online purchased the division and renamed it Bookplace Ltd.

Bookplace Ltd operates 2 main websites; The Book Place, www.thebookplace.co.uk and ComputerBooks.co.uk.

The Book Place, apart from selling to customers direct also acts as the fulfilment service for the websites of several leading UK publishers including Short Books, Faber & Faber, Sanctuary Publishing and the Time Warner Group. The combination of traditional bookselling expertise and modern technical know how make The Book Pl@ce unique and the first stop online for bargain hunters and book lovers alike.
